Hosting Institution
Universidade da Coruña
The Universidade da Coruña (UDC) is one of the three public universities of Galicia, Spain, founded in 1989. With approximately 20,000 students and 1,200 academic staff, UDC has established itself as a leading research institution in the northwest Iberian Peninsula.
The Faculty of Computer Science (Facultade de Informática) at UDC has a strong tradition in natural language processing, information retrieval, and computational linguistics. Research groups at the faculty have contributed to major international shared tasks and evaluation campaigns, including CLEF, TREC, and NTCIR.
ESSIR 2027 marks the first time the school is hosted in Galicia, and the organising team is committed to showcasing the region's vibrant research culture alongside the natural and cultural richness of A Coruña.
